Most business advice focuses on how to get customers to love you. We obsess over how to get them to follow us, buy from us, and admire us.

But after years of business ownership, I’ve realized the opposite is true. The secret to a scalable, profitable business isn't getting love; it's giving it.

If you are overwhelmed by algorithms, funnels, and complex networking tactics, I have good news. You can condense all of those tasks into one single focus. Today, I’m showing you how "Love" isn't just a feeling—it is a strategic workflow.

The "One Thing" Concept

We are all looking for that one domino that makes everything else easier. In his book The One Thing, Gary Keller argues that success comes from narrowing your focus, not widening it. (I discuss this deep focus strategy in detail in Episode 8).

I am convinced that the "One Thing" for your business isn't a new marketing hack. It’s Love.

I was recently reminded of Galatians 5:14: "For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself."

Just as the Bible condenses hundreds of complex laws into one command, we can condense the hundreds of business tasks—marketing, sales, customer support—into one focus. If you focus on loving your neighbor (the public), the profit will follow.

Visualizing the Flow of Relationships

Strategic relationships for business owners to find flow

If you look at my FLOW Framework, I visualize relationships as a heart with concentric circles (like a target):

  1. The Center (Self): You must start with Self-Compassion. If you can't forgive your own mistakes, you won't have the resilience to take risks.

  2. The Middle (Intimates & Friends): These are the 3-5 people you can call at 2 AM. They provide your support system.

  3. The Outer Ring (Strangers): This is where business growth happens.

It is easy to love the people in the center. But the Biblical definition of "neighbor" often refers to the person you don't know. In business, "Loving the Stranger" is the key to marketing.

How do you love a stranger for your business? You serve them.

The KLT Factor: Love as a Business System

We often hear about the Know, Like, and Trust (KLT) factor. But have you ever thought about how these are actually expressions of love?

  • KNOW = Consistency: You show love by showing up. If you are inconsistent, you aren't reliable. Being omnipresent isn't about ego; it's about being there when they need help.

  • LIKE = Authenticity: Stop hiding behind perfection. I call this "Scruffy Hospitality" in business. When you show up as your real, imperfect self, you make strangers feel safe. You give them permission to be themselves.

  • TRUST = Generosity: This is the big one. In $100M Leads, Alex Hormozi talks about the "Give : Ask Ratio." You have to give way more value than you ask for.

The 90% Rule: I give 90% of my content away for free. I share my best checklists, guides, and ideas without a paywall. Why? Because I’m not trying to trap people; I’m trying to help them. Love looks like solving their problem before they ever pay you a dime.

The Mindset Shift: Selling is Serving

I used to hate business because I thought selling was "taking." I was a teacher, and I viewed teaching as noble because it was "giving."

Then I had a realization: Selling is just moving people.

  • As a teacher, I had to "sell" my students on doing their homework so they could pass the exam.

  • As a business owner, I "sell" my clients on a solution that will fix their pain.

If you believe you have the solution to someone's problem, keeping it to yourself isn't modest—it's selfish. Selling is helping. If you care more about their success than they do, you will naturally close more deals because they will feel that intent.

The Happiness Loop (Why This Helps YOU)

Focusing on others sounds selfless, but it actually serves you the most.

In Episode 12, we discussed the science of connection. Helping others releases dopamine. When you focus on serving strangers, you break your own isolation.

It creates a Happiness Loop:

  1. You Serve (Love)

  2. You Feel Happier (Energy)

  3. You have the fuel to run your Operations and Focus AND you attract more clients

  4. Your business grows.

The Challenge: The "Million Dollar" Rule

So, how do you apply this today?

I want you to try the Million Dollar Rule. This was taken from a Terry Crews interview that Mel Robbins highlighted. Treat every stranger who interacts with you this week—whether they DM you on Instagram or send a support email—as if they have already paid you $1,000,000.

How would you answer that email? How patient would you be? How much value would you add?

If you treat people like they have paid you a million dollars before they buy, you won't have to worry about the money. It will follow.
